Fretz Maker Hammer Set of 5

In response to the often “poorly made” copies of the FRETZ Hammers, Jordan Fretz has designed a new group of “original” hammers under the trademarked brand MAKER. These are quality hammers within an artist’s budget.

The MAKER Hammers are made with our signature 420 stainless steel and have polished faces. The handles are North American ash with the logo on the handle.

MKR-1 thru MKR-5 are the same size as the Fretz HMR-1 thru HMR-5 hammers.

Includes the following options:

1 x Planishing Hammer
The Maker Planishing Hammer has a slightly rounded working end for smoothing non-ferrous forged metal. The rounded end gives the classic planishing mark found on handwrought metal. The other working end is flat which can refine the round planishing marks to near smoothness. A classic working hammer with a bold new profile.

1x Wide Raising Hammer
The Maker Wide Raising Hammer is useful for raising small vessels or bowls from flat stock. It is also a forging hammer used to draw out wire or thin sheet metal.

1 x Narrow Raising Hammer
The Maker Narrow Raising Hammer is a crosspein used to sink metal into concave shapes and fit into curves where a round planishing hammer will not fit. The hammer also leaves a dramatic texture on flat, concave and convex metal and jewellery.

1 x Large Embossing Hammer
The Maker Large Embossing Hammer textures metal with two ball shaped ends of different sizes. The textures can be varied a great deal by changing the force of the blow. The hammer is also used to emboss or sink shapes into cavities or a sand bag.

1 x Small Embossing Hammer
The Maker Small Embossing Hammer has two round ends but they are much smaller than the MKR-4. The smaller ends make interesting textures on smaller shapes where larger hammers would overwhelm the project.

(Think of the MAKER as “ready-to-use” hammers as opposed the FRETZ “couture” hammers).
