Snapping saw blades has got to be one of the most frustrating parts of jewellery making. When you're starting out, it can feel like you go through an endless supply!
Often, it's not the blade that's the issue, but the technique. One of the biggest mistakes is trying to force the cut: sawing should feel controlled and steady, rather than like you're applying lots of pressure.
Prep is also important. A blade with proper tension and good lubrication will cut through much easier. Beeswax works great and is an inexpensive option, or you can get some great vegan alternatives too.

Finally, make sure you're using the right saw blade for the thickness of the metal you're cutting - around 2-3 teeth for the thickness is ideal. We have a video on this if you scroll further down our page!

At Maddisons, we swear by the trusty Super Pike saw blades, made in Switzerland to absolute precision. Each bundle contains 12 blades, and can last long enough to cut multiple pieces with the correct techniques.
